In the novel “A Thousand Splendid Suns” Khaled Hosseini utilizes point of view and dramatic monologue to highlight the ruinous effect due to domestic abuse, psychological and physically. “The palm of his thick-fingered hand connecting squarely with the meat of Laila’s cheek” causes a lot of Afghan women to experience the physical abuse from their loved one. The direct strike, physically and verbally, crushes all hopes and dashed dreams that the women suffer from, time and time again.
